Red Clay Interactive

Emory Wheel

Emory University’s student newspaper, The Emory Wheel, has a long history of excellence in student journalism. While the student run newspaper provided online access to each issue, the web service that was utilized controlled the advertising, negating the paper’s ability to produce revenue, and its inflexibility didn’t allow students to publish the news the way they wanted.

Emory Wheel students and advisors tasked Red Clay to create a streamlined site with improved functionality. The result was an online news site with flexible content management tools that allow for instant control of news articles, calendar of events, surveys, and photo galleries, and for easy upload of pdf versions of the printed issue. Also, community involvement is maximized with the ability to submit online letters to the editors and make comments on certain articles. And, the newspaper now has a new source of revenue with the advertising options.
