We've used flash in a number of ways for our clients. For some, we have created the homepage header space as a flash tool to help easily organize the site's content and goals. For others, flash has become an interaction point, allowing users to submit information, play a game or simply be called to action by a site. Some use flash animation to describe a service they offer, and others use flash as a means to deploy video.
For us, flash is a strategic decision, not a creative one. We implement flash design if it is in line with a site's overall goals, and if it can be a functioning piece of the entire experience. If our only justification is how awesome it would be in our portfolio, then we look for another tool that will convert. But done right, flash can be a valuable piece of many sites. Probably even yours.
