For many years now Red Clay has been pleased to sponsor MLB Hall of Famer Phil Niekro's signature golf tournament raising money for the Edmondson-Telford Center for Children.
The Phil Niekro Golf Classic has become one of the most enjoyable and successful fundraisers in North Georgia. Each year, thousands of dollars are raised to help the Edmondson-Telford Center care for child victims of abuse and neglect in our community. Additionally, Red Clay president Lance Compton is a long-time Board member.
Unfortunately, child abuse and molestation is a plague in our society that continues to grow. And when a child has had to experience this horrible trauma, the last thing they need is to be taken to a cold, sterile environment like a police station for examination and questioning. Fortunately, Hall and Dawson counties have the E-T Center where children can be taken to a safe, home-like environment for medical and forensic examinations and interviews. Additionally, the Center serves as a resource for regional law enforcement agencies to work collaboratively when investigating and prosecuting the terrible crimes.
