With help from Red Clay, the Travel Channel's "Ghost Adventures Live" website was honored with a CableFAX Best of the Web Award in New York.
This past week at the CableFAX Best of the Web Awards in New York, the Travel Channel's Ghost Adventures Live website, developed in partnership with Red Clay Interactive, was recognized as the top site in the supplemental web content category. The Best of Web Awards are the industry's top honor in the digital space, recognizing outstanding Web sites and digital initiatives by cable programmers, operators, vendors and associations.
The award recognized the digital half of the "Ghost Adventures Live" broadcast from this past Halloween. For the site Red Clay created an online map that allowed viewers to track the "Ghost Adventures" team through the Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum in Weston, WV. The map was a guide through the haunted corridors of the abandoned Civil War asylum that highlighted supernatural hotspots, suspected spirit activity and offered live webcam footage. In addition, the site supported live chatting, texting and evidence review during the exploration.
"The idea was to help carry the 'Ghost Adventurers Live' experience beyond simply watching the show and let viewers truly participate in the action," said Prentice Stamps, senior manager of IT and interactive for the Travel Channel. "Red Clay understood our needs and helped us provide the best finished product for our viewers."
Honorable mentions in the supplemental web content category went to the likes of AMC's Mad Men website, National Geographic and WWE SummerSlam Microsite.
