New Interactive Marketing Firm Launched in Gainesville

GAINESVILLE - A new web development and interactive marketing firm, Red Clay Interactive, launched December 1, 2000, in Gainesville, according to an announcement by company president Lance Compton. The Red Clay team will work with businesses and organizations to take them into new opportunities offered by online, interactive marketing and web development.

"We have a team with the skills and experience necessary to help a company make a logical transition to the new market, using the latest technology and marketing techniques to become more efficient and more profitable," Compton said. "For most businesses in the Southeast, we can provide a comprehensive, ongoing e-business solution."

In addition to Compton, principals at Red Clay are Brian Dempsey and Greg Cruce, both of whom have extensive experience in web development, interactive marketing, e-commerce, systems networking, and custom database programming. Red Clay Interactive is backed by local investors with Gordon Sawyer, a veteran advertising and marketing executive, as Chairman of the Board.

The Red Clay Interactive team was formerly a part of the web development division of the Jacobs Media Corporation. This is the team that originally designed and implemented AccessNorthGa.com. Jay Jacobs, president of Jacobs Media, said his company has made the decision to concentrate on publishing the local online newspaper, "!giving the group the opportunity to form an enterprise to serve local and area businesses, in addition to contract work for AccessNorthGa.com."

Current Red Clay Interactive clients include the Georgia Forestry Association, Hall County Government, James Hardie Building Products, Greater-Hall Chamber of Commerce, Sawyer Riley Compton Inc., United Way of Hall County, The Vascular Disease Institute, and area car dealerships. Red Clay Interactive is located at 631 Dawsonville Hwy., Suite 400, Gainesville, Ga., 30501, and can be accessed on the World Wide Web at www.redclayinteractive.com.

Trade sources point out that more than 40 percent of American homes now have computers, and that a much higher percentage of businesses have computers and are online for information transfer, as well as email. Some market research firms project that homes with Internet access in high-growth, affluent areas, such as Northeast Georgia and the area around Lake Lanier, could be at the 80 percent level within two years.

"We are well into a transition from old marketing patterns to new," Sawyer said. "For most it is too early to totally throw out the old, but we're reaching that critical mass that says a business had better get started on a strategic plan for interactive marketing or it'll run the risk of being left behind. More importantly, those who methodically get into the new marketing now will get a real jump on their competition."
